To a baby or toddler
They'll have no memory of any of this, which makes you the only surviving witness. Write like one.
- The day they arrived: the hour, the weather, who cried.
- How you chose the name, and what you nearly called them instead.
- What they're like at this exact age — the noises, the obsessions, the refusals.
- What being their parent has been like so far, honestly.
- What you were like before them.
You are eleven months old and terrified of the vacuum.
